I'm home visiting and my uncle has my old computer and I offered to try to fix the issues they're having. When turned on it stops halfway into the boot and says:
"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: Windows/system32/config/system
You can attempt to repair this file by starting the windows setup using the original setup CD-ROM. Select "r" at the first screen to start repair"
I've never seen this issue with my old pc before. They aren't even online - they just use it to play card games. Everytime I hit "r" it re-boots and ends up back at the same page again.
Any thoughts?

Re: Win/system32/config issues
Mon, October 15, 2007 - 8:32 AMThe operating system has become corrupt and needs to be reinstalled. Run a thorough scandisk to check for bad sectors before attempting to repair the fault. You may need to format the disk, so you'll want to do a data recovery before attempting to do any repair as well. -

after the scan disk, it booted okay. Just a glitch I guess. -

On separate issue with my moms pc, I notice that it freezes a lot.
When this happens, in the (blue for me) bar at the very top it says "(not responding)"
Sometimes, Mozillia will "end program" other times it will just freeze for almost a full minute and come out of it just fine.
What's up with that? It's been doing this for a long time but it's getting much worse. I updated Mozilla and it still happens.
