I provide software support services (Windows and other software) for small businesses in my area. I help companies implement new technology including their websites. What do you do Michael?

I do Unix/Linux systems administration work to get by, but my primary focus is on infrastructure design. I like to come into startups, assess their needs, and design (and manage the implementation) of their new infrastructure.. That, and come into existing companies and re-design/re-deploy their current infrastructure..

In all seriousness and the "cheerleading" aside, welcome aboard.

I noticed that you deploy Windows-based systems/websites to your clients. How do you remotely manage your systems? What types of languages (VB, Kixs...etc) do you have your clients run their login script as? Just curious...

I use Homestead.com exclusively, and remotely manage the sites by using Homestead site creation software. It's a convienient, scalable solution for the small business clients I have. If they want an update, it's easy to do. Want to add e-commerce capabilities, it's easy to do.

Hello Jon. I too just joined the Tribe. I was an independednt consultant like yourself before I left the US to work abroad but now I am thinking of returning to the good old USA. Can you tell me what the independednt consulting (networks & security) market is like these days? I've been away for ~6 years. I hope to catch up on what's happening by watching this Tribe.

I am not an independent consultant at the time. I was in the past. I have extensive experience as a software developer.
