I've been 1/2 and 1/2 on this. I've sent my resume out
a good amount oftimes, and gotten a fair amount of work.. It
seems to me though, that as a consultant, I don't need a resume,
and should be putting out a profile that summarizes, but does not
list my customer's names.
How have other people approached this aspect of marketing themselves?

For truly creative types...
Fri, February 13, 2004 - 10:46 AMthen yes, a portfolio approach works. For IT, I want to see both what kind of work you have done and what skills you have and the timeframes involved...i.e. a resume. -

Tue, February 17, 2004 - 12:05 AMThanks for the info.. I'm wondering how much information to put
in a profile, though.. I've heard horror stories on a couple
of the consultants boards about having your customers harrassed by recruiters with no ethics who get customer names from resumes...

You NEVER put customer names in...
Tue, February 17, 2004 - 1:52 PMunless you have advance permission. Hiring people know and understand that. Just use a short descriptor...i.e. "a Fortune 10 Consumer Products Company".
