I have 3 offers ranging from $100k-$120k.. Consulting
has slowed down a bit over the past couple of months..
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan it's hard to turn down a $120k offer that's
only an 8 minute commute on principle.

Re: Evil temptations..
Sat, January 17, 2004 - 4:04 AMI guess it depends on the principle. Money isn't everything. Since I no longer live in the US, I can't get arrested for saying that.

Sat, January 17, 2004 - 8:17 AMDevil was here and he said, "Take it"! As long as you think it's worth the money. You can always do consulting on the side. I used to do that when I was working full time. Bad thing is I had to do freelancing after hours or weekends. I'm a Capitalist pig and I like it! :) -

Re: Evil temptations..
Sat, January 17, 2004 - 11:29 AMThat's the thing. I've taken 2 full-time jobs in the past 2
years, got terribly aggravated, and left both within 3 months.. I think being a corporate wage-slave just isn't for me.. and it's weird, because a few of my friends are struggling in a very bad way, and here I am turning down decent job ofers.
Oh well, living how I want is definately more important
than money.. -

Re: Evil temptations..
Sun, January 25, 2004 - 4:23 AMI know exactly what you mean Michael. Well... as you know... I'm working full time for the "corporate wage-slave" and doing consulting work on the side (note the time/date stamp on this note - and yes... I'm still working on some coding for a client of mine). I have a hand full of friends struggling looking for work in IT and haven't found one. I tried migrating my clients (consulting work) to friends that don't have jobs... but my clients aren't happy with that idea. I'm also stuck with several job offers and stretching my time availability really bad (oh gosh.. I missed the BART car party.... working away still).
Anyway.... I think "living life" is practically more sane that being stuck to a corporate job for ya. I think having the freedom of when and where you want to perform your jobs is entirely up to you... you have that sense of satisfaction of building your consulting work.... take it from me... I'm a mere "b!tch" working too much... little time for R&R.
